Have you experienced a loss to suicide?

I get it.

It can feel like a bomb has gone off in your world and you don't know how to pick up the pieces.

You have no experience of managing the heaviness of 'suicide' and the overwhelming feelings of loss, shame, guilt, horror or pain you may be feeling.

You wish there was a handbook of what to do or what to expect – how to put life back together again. But at the same time know there can’t be – because everyone grieves and processes trauma differently. Your experience is yours and no one can possibly understand what it is like for you.

A simple handbook would not be enough.

When I lost my eldest brother, Andrew, to suicide in 2015, I was so conflicted between hiding away from the world and wanting someone to tell me what to do with the complicated feelings and thoughts that overwhelmed me.

Someone who understood what it was like.

Hello, I am Dr. Sue Egan. I have devoted the last 4 years of my doctoral research to understand suicide grief. I am an advocate and public speaker on this delicate subject and am passionate about providing emotional and practical support to others who find themselves living with life after suicide.

I truly understand how hard it can be navigating your way through the effect suicide has on your life. That is why I am sincerely passionate about helping you to find and love yourself again, cope with the grief, make decisions going forward and build a life of meaning.

Whoever you were 'before', whoever you are 'now' - I SEE YOU. I sincerely hope you find a path to healing here and truly believe that together it is possible to look inwards and find a YOU that can go on living a life your loved one would want for you.

Leave shame and guilt behind you

Many factors can contribute to how we feel after a suicide loss. I focus on rebuilding your belief system, as we believe this is one of the most fundamental processes involved in recovering from a suicide loss. Of course, this is certainly NOT the only way to heal from grief. If you are stuck with how to process the death of a loved one to suicide, the first step is reaching out for help.  I hope some of what we offer here helps you recognise how important your healing journey is. Please see our page of helpful resources to see what other free resources are available.
