  • If you believe you see something that indicates someone is in danger of harming themselves or anyone else please do not hesitate to email us immediately at [email protected]
  • Please use URGENT as the subject line and explain what you concerns are.
  • Sue Egan or a member of trained staff will contact you as soon as possible to confirm they have seen your email.
  • They will then put necessary procedures in place to support the person you are worried about (see below for our protocols).

1) ENGAGE WITH MEMBER USING THEIR CONTACT DETAILS FORM, ย OFFERING SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT.

2) MAINTAIN TIMELY CONTACT UNTIL MEMBER INDICATES THE CRISIS HAS PASSED.

3)ย HELP THEM DEVISE A SAFETY PLAN.ย 

4) TELEPHONE MEMBERโ€™S NEXT OF KIN REGARDING THEIR POSSIBLE STATE OF MIND OR WRITTEN INTENTION OF THEIR LOVED ONE, AS WE UNDERSTAND IT. ENCOURAGE THEM TO MAKE PHYSICAL CONTACT WITH MEMBER ASAP.

5) DISPLAY CONTACT NUMBERS FOR MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT AGENCIES AND SUICIDE CRISIS HELPLINES IN MEMBERโ€™S AREA, CALLING THEM AND ENCOURAGING THEM TO REACH OUT TO THE MEMBER AS WELL, IF POSSIBLE.

6) CALL POLICE AND/OR CRISIS TEAM CONTACTS IN MEMBERโ€™S AREA TO INFORM THEM OF OUR INTERPRETATION OF THE WRITTEN PERCEIVED INTENTION AND POSSIBILITY OF SELF-HARM, AS WE READ IT.
